These kinda posts are the biggest pain in the a** to write.
A few more notes:
• There's no need to tell me "go talk to non-vegans" instead of "wasting time writing this". I talk to them almost every single day. Apart from that, George's post is anti-vegan, end of story. This is a growing trend of defending misinformation, and it serves as a yet another obstacle to understand veganism.
• I don't think using more terms like "kepism" is helpful. We already have "vegan" and its antonym "non-vegan". It's easily understood and has a clear historical reference. No need to overcomplicate it, veganism should be easily understood by a 7 y.o.
• Staying silent on this ensures that the endless misinformation about veganism continues. Not only that, as we're seeing here, it is defended. There's a reason almost everyone in the world thinks that it's a diet. There's a reason so many people call it "a reduction of suffering". There's a reason why we have "vegan but cheese" trends. Because it's framed as those things: as a boycott of certain "products", as a calculative harm reduction movement, and so on. Misinformation has never been helpful for any justice movement, and obviously, it's detrimental here as well.
